The team sent six guys to the State Crit Championship… Mark Fontanilla, Joe Hathcock, Matt Botting, Tommy Jones, Gordon Stiel and Kerry Humphrey. Before the race start it was sprinkling so we were able to reduce tire pressure and thank goodness as we got rain probably half our race which made the course pretty dicey. I’d say 20% of the field DNF’ed due to conditions. Joe and Mark hit the front early and strung it out. We controlled the first half of the race pretty well. Matt rode exceptionally strong and covered most important moves and pulled Kerry up a few times. Matt even found the energy to attack several times. 
We were into corners conservatively and sprinting out each time, so it made for a different race. Two guys were off the front late and they were finally pulled back with 2 to go I believe. Matt stayed in great position on the last lap and kept Kerry protected. Kerry marked Charlie Brown’s wheel coming into the last turn and they went into the last turn (200 meters to finish) sitting 6th and 7th. Charlie jumped hard on the slight uphill finish and Kerry grabbed his wheel. We went by everyone on the left side and I had nothing for the Judge. Kerry finished 2nd place with silver for the team. Matt 8th, Tommy 11th, Joe 18th, Mark F 20th and Gordon 22nd. Great teamwork… thanks for keeping it together and putting us in the position to podium. Joe, Matt…shout outs! Great job guys!
